‘NCW to bear eductional responsibily of Puttur rape victim’

Mangaluru: Shyamala Sunder, member of National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday met the Puttur gang-rape victim and gave assurance of bearing the responsibility of her education.
Addressing reporters here after speaking to the victim and her family, Shyamala said that the victim who is mentally depressed because of the incident has expressed her desire to continue her education.
She further informed that she has gathered all necessary information about the incident from the victim and her mother and also met the district superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad and discussed the case. A Suo Moto case has been filed by NCW against the students involved in the gang rape.
“The Social Welfare Department would on July 9 credit compensation amount of Rs 412250 to victims bank account while remaining Rs 4 lakh would be given to her, from central victim compensation fund scheme,” in coming days, she said.
Meanwhile, she urged parents to educate their children about good behavior because they face the brunt of their actions.
