Mangaluru: NMAM Institute of Technology (NMAMIT), Nitte, has been selected as one of the Nodal Centers for conducting the Toycathon 2021 in a digital mode from June 22 to 24.

India, the home of many globally popular games like Chess, Ludo, Snakes & Ladders stands at around 1.5 billion USD in the toy market. Under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan scheme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Toycathon-2021 is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games, based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology and ethos, thus providing a unique opportunity for students, teachers, start-ups and toy experts/professionals in India.

The selected 24 teams have been allotted to the NMAMIT-Nodal Centre, and these teams will be taking part in the 3-day hackathon. Teams will build their toys or digital application during the hackathon and will be constantly mentored by experts in the respective field and will present their end products before the panel of evaluators.

Toycathon is an inter-ministerial initiative that is organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
