No connection between IT raids and Yeddyurappa: Renukacharya

Bengaluru: Chief Minister’s political secretary M.P. Renukacharya on Friday denied any connection between former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and the Income Tax (IT) raids on his close friend.

There were rumors that IT raids on Yeddyurappa’s close aide Umesh were carried out as a political weapon to keep a check on the former CM.

At a news conference at the Vidhana Soudha on Friday, Renukacharya said the rumors were false and further clarified that IT raids had nothing to do with the former Karnataka CM.

“Yeddyurappa cannot be kept in check… Yeddyurappa has not been sidelined by the BJP,” he added.

Taking a dig at Siddaramaiah, H.D. Kumaraswamy, and Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent remarks about the Sangh Parivar, he said that none of them had the moral right to criticize the Sangh Parivar. “The leadership of Sangh Parivar does not desire power. The RSS is an organization that makes sacrifices for the country,” he said.

He accused the leaders of opposition from the Congress and JD(S) of playing the minority appeasement card, and said minorities have realized this “drama and vote bank politics” being played in view of the by-election.

Returning the volley over Siddaramaiah’s “Taliban” remark, Renukacharya said, “The RSS doesn’t follow Taliban culture, but the Congress does.”
