New Delhi: After news reports claimed that Railways is planning to do away with provision of waiting lists from 2024, the Ministry has issued a clarification.
Efforts are being made to increase capacity to make trains available on demand, which would “reduce possibility of passengers getting waitlisted”, the Ministry said. “There’s no plan do away with provision of waitlisted tickets,” it added.
According to HT, National Rail Plan is a long-term strategic plan aimed at increasing the infrastructural capacity of the railways. The plan is being circulated amongst various ministries for their views now. The railways plans to finalize the plan by January 2021.
