No Plans to Governmentalize Temples in Karnataka: Muzrai Minister

Haveri: Karnataka state government has no plans to governmentalize the temples in the state as  alleged by some religious leaders earlier that the government has planned to forcefully take all temples into its supervision, said state Minister for Muzrai (Religious Endowment), Rudrappa Manappa Lamani speaking in a press conference here in Haveri on Wednesday.

The state government appoints administrators if routine rituals of any temple stalls following any legal dispute or any reason. However, the government has no plans to take the administration of any temple into its control, the minister clarified.

“The temples run by hereditary owners will remain in the hands of the respective person or persons and the government won’t interfere in the internal activities of such temples,” the minister added.
