No ticket cancellation charges till Mar 31: KSRTC

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to waive ticket cancellation charges for passengers till March 31 amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

As many as 45,000 seat reservations were cancelled between March 1-19 and it is likely to increase in coming days, said an official.

The total loss incurred by the Corporation was more than Rs 8 crore and is expected to rise in the coming days, officials added.

Owing to dwindling passenger numbers, the KSRTC too has cancelled services of several inter-state and long-distance buses and some have been merged to reduce expenses.

At some of the KSRTC’s bus stations, district health officials are screening passengers before they board the buses.

Officials at the Corporation have stated that in the first ten days of March more than 43,000 reserved tickets were cancelled by passengers.

The total loss incurred by the Corporation was more than Rs 8 crore and is expected to rise in the coming days, officials added.

Many services have been cancelled and some have been merged to reduce expenses.
