Officials prevent a minor from getting married at Udupi

Udupi: District women and child welfare department and DC on receiving details of a proposed child marriage in the district stopped the wedding after convincing the parents of a minor.
Based on the information recieved, DC Priyanka Mary Francis and the team prevented a minor girl from getting married at Perampalli in Shivalli village here on Monday.
The team of officials spoke to the mother of the bride and informed her that it would be illegal for her to get her minor daughter married off even if she is only couple of months to reach the legal age for marriage and that it was imperative for her to wait till the girl reaches the permissible age for marriage.
