Ayodhya: The festive atmosphere and excitement were very palpable in the city here.

The city and the Sarayu River were decorated with electric lights. The bhajans and kirtans on Rama and Hanuman were resonating from every home.

The whole night almost all the residents were awake.

It started raining in the city at 4 am on Wednesday, August 5. Despite this, the decoration work continued for the Bhoomi Pujan continued. More than 125 employees of the local municipal authority were involved in decorating the city. Hundreds of people from various organizations participated in the decoration, using about 500 quintals of flowers.

Every temple in the city had night-long poojas and special prayers. After the morning pooja, most of them left for their homes. No audience will be present to watch the Bhoomi Pujan as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.

All entry into the city is barred during the period of the Bhoomi Pujan. Special ID cards and passes have been issued for those attending the event.
