Uppinangady: Guruvayanakere road is on the edge of danger due to lack of maintenance. The government had widened the 19 km stretch road at the cost of Rs 5 crore under the state highway development plan. After completion of the work, the responsibility of the maintenance of the road was given to the contractor for three years. But even after the passing of monsoon, the maintenance has not been taken up. The road is now filled with pot holes making it a challenge for two-wheeler rides to pass through without meeting with an accident.
At Nejikar in Ilanthil village, the road has been widened up to a drain, but drain remains open with no danger signage or indication. The public is demanding that the responsible officials take action to rectify this.
Maintenance required
“It is very important that after the completion of any work, it must be maintained properly. Due to the lack of maintenance, small pot holes enlarge,” said Isubu Pedamale, President of Ilanthil Gram Panchayat
Will notify the contractor
“It has come to notice that, though only two years have passed since the road works have completed, the road has developed pot holes following this times rains. Will immediately notify the contractor to take up maintenance work,” said Shivprasad Ajri, PWD Assistant Engineer.
