Mangaluru: Several consumers have received fraudulent messages, the electricity distribution company said, and warned its consumers not to fall for the scam.
Several consumers have received SMS claiming to be from MESCOM, threatening to cut off the electricity supply for non-payment of dues. “Dear customer, your electricity connection will be disconnected at 9.30 pm tonight as you have not paid your previous month’s electricity bill,” the fraud message says.
In a press release, MESCOM said that it does not send SMSs to consumers. It warned consumers to be cautious and asked them not to respond to such messages.
Electricity bills can be paid through MESCOM official payment channels like My Mescom Mobile App, Mangalore One, nearest Mescom office, or through Google Pay, Paytm, Mescom Online Payment App.
The company asked its consumers to report any fraudulent message received to its helpline 1912.
