Only grant is enough; not an aspirant for ministerial berth: Nalin

Mangaluru: After winning twice by a highest margin of votes in Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, BJP candidate Nalin Kumar has achieved a hat-trick victory through wining for the third straight time with the highest margin of votes and by becoming an MP again has created a record in itself. Nalin, who won by a difference of over two-and-a-half lakh votes spoke with “Udayavani” and expressed his thoughts regarding the decision taken by the voters of his constituency.

How are you feeling about the hat-trick victory?

This is the victory of the workers and the voters. This victory is the blessing given by the voters for the actions and important programmes implemented in the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and for the gifts provided to DK district. Also, the people have kept faith in me for the good political work done in DK district since the last 10 years. Yes, this victory is also because of that faith.

The reason for the increase in victory margin?

The little work that I have done in the district has impressed the people who have in turn blessed me. Additionally, the Modi wave in the country and people’s faith has led to the rise in the victory margin. It is clear that the Modi Tsunami is in the district.

Are you an aspirant for ministerial berth?

I have no wish or desire for a ministerial berth. My wish is to raise DK to the numero uno position. Since I only require grant for the development of the district, I am not an aspirant for the ministerial berth.

What will you do to increase the setback of the work?

Importance will be given for the completion of all the works that are in progress in the district. Although it is a ‘Smart City’ project, it has to be implemented by the state government and the corporation. Therefore it is not my setback. Congress is entirely responsible for the delay in Pumpwell flyover and it is not my setback. But I will honestly work for the implementation of all these projects in the coming days.

The opposition has accused that last time you only announced projects, but failed to implement them?

The voters have already given a clear reply to all the criticism by Congress. I welcome all their criticism and corrections. But since the people have supported me through their blessings, I bow my head to the people’s blessings.

Importance for religious/medical tourism

What is your promise to the people?

Importance will be given to the quick completion of all the works whose foundation stone as laid during the previous administration. Foundation stone has been laid for road development, various railway works, fishing jetty, plastic park and emphasis will be provided for its quick completion. Besides, importance will be given to provide the many basic facilities that the district requires. There is a thought to develop the district along with tourism, religious tourism, heli tourism, cultivation oriented projects and through industries.
