Mangaluru: Candidates of prominent parties who conceded defeat in the legislative assembly elections spoke with Udayavani and give their opinions on the reason behind their defeat and their future decision.
“People are in favour of development”: J.R. Lobo
Five reasons for your defeat?
I have done enough development works. People’s favour is observed. I do not see any reason for the defeat. The reason is hidden from me.
What is your political future?
People have faith in me. I will become the leader of Mangaluru South Legislative assembly constituency leader and serve the people.
Which problem in your constituency are you expecting to be solved by the victor?
I’ll not talk about which problem needs to be solved. I am not their advisor. The newly elected must identify the problem and solve it.
“Hindutva wave is the reason for defeat”: Abhyachandra Jain
The reason behind your defeat?
The defeat was due to the Hindutva wave. People forgot Siddaramiah’s ‘Anna Bhagya’, ‘Kshira Bhagya’ and ‘Pashu Bhagya’. It seems that 94C, 94CC did not work out. I have the satisfaction of doing the most development in my constituency. I have done my duty.
What’s next in your political life?
“Politics is not my employment. I have enterprises. I will carry on with it as per usual. The thought that I have in my mind is on how to look after the party workers who have come believing in me? “he replied and said that his future duty is to strengthen the party.
Which problem in your constituency are you expecting to be solved by the victor?
There is a lot of work to be done in this constituency to provide water. Since flat system has already emerged at Moodbidri, Kinnigoli, Bajpe and Mulki, underground drainage system needs to be installed. Not just ADB but also the cooperation of industrialists from here is required.
