Ullal: In a sudden turn of events, a family’s beach side revelry turned into a complete tragedy when their four-year-old daughter drowned at Someshwar Beach on Monday Dec 24th. Though all four members of the family were rescued by the lifeguards, the young girl lost her battle for life at the hospital.
The deceased victim is identified as Maitreyi Ketkar (4) who belonged to a family of four from Banashankari Bengaluru, identified as Chintamani Ketkar (39), Shraddha Ketkar (35) and their other daughter Gargi Kethar (7).
According to sources, all four family members were enjoying a swim in the sea when the tragedy struck. Apparently a strong wave swept one of their children away which compelled the parents to go to her rescue and thereby, all three were ensnared by the sea water.
