Raichur: The civic workers here on Sunday gheraoed health Minister Sriramulu and demanded him to pay their eight months salary which is still pending.

Sriramulu on Sunday, April 5 visited Raichur of which he is the district in-charge minister, first time after the Coronavirus outbreak. During his visit, the civic workers rushed to the District administration office and demanded him to pay their eight months salary.

When the police tried to stop them telling us that they should maintain social distance the civic workers got even more furious and said,” Give us poison, will we consume it and die here.”

“When we ask the Commissioner to solve our problem, we are told to ask the project manager and this cycle goes on, no one is addressing our problem. While everyone is sitting at home due to lockdown we are risking our life and working,” said the protesting civic workers.

Eight months’ salary of as many as 280 civic workers is still pending and due to this, they are facing a lot of problems, they can’t even afford food, informed sources
