Mangaluru: The Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, Mullai Muhilan, has issued an order allowing electric auto rickshaws and those powered by methanol and ethanol to operate freely throughout the district.
A previous notification, which required electric auto rickshaws and those using methanol and ethanol to display blue stickers in Zone 1 and yellow stickers in Zone 2 issued by the police department, has been revoked.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials have been instructed to enforce this new order strictly. Additionally, the Mangaluru City DCP and the District Superintendent of Police have been authorized to install necessary signboards.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, the Deputy Commissioner has empowered the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner to designate parking and halt spots within the city limits. In other areas, the relevant local authority officials have been given similar powers to determine parking locations.
