“Please bring us back home:” Appeal students stuck in Russia

Yadgiri: More than 40 students from various parts of the State who are in Russia for medical education are appealing to be brought back home after facing hardship there.

The students, who are stranded in the Russian capital of Moscow, now are anxious to return to their country in the wake of the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 there.

These students have shared a video message, stating about their hardships.

In the video message, they stated that a special flight was arranged under the Vande Bharat Mission, however, there were no seats for Karnataka residents in the flight. Most of the passengers in that flight were from Delhi and other States.

The students requested for a special flight from Moscow to Bengaluru for them in the video message.

The student in the video mentioned that they are from Bengaluru, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Hubli, Gadag, Davanagere and one each from Yadagiri and Raichur.

Meanwhile, Tejasvi Surya, MP from Bengaluru South, has written to the External Affairs Minister, requesting that the 41 students of the State be facilitated to return home.

Also, Rajya Sabha member G.C. Chandrasekhar wrote to the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister requesting for a flight for the students in distress in Moscow and also requested the Indian embassy officials there to direct the safety and security of the students.
