Poisonous Prasadam: 2 arrested; govt announces Rs 5 lakh compensation

Chamarajanagar: Two people have been arrested in connection with the food-poisoning incident that took place on Friday, December 14 morning after devotees consumed ‘prasad’ distributed at the Maramma temple in Chamarajanagar district said District in-charge minister Puttaranga Shetty on Saturday, December 15.

Puttaranga had visited a hospital where the affected are undergoing treatment and informed that the police are investigating the case and action will be taken against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased while the expenses incurred on account of treatment will be taken care of by the state government.
