Mangaluru: “A special operation will be conducted in the city against no registration number plates on the vehicle, blaring horn, use of tinted glasses above the permissible tint percentage limit, and parking of vehicle in no parking area,” said police commissioner of the city Sandeep Patil responding to the queries of citizens of the city in the police phone-in programme that was held at his office on Friday, March 1.

Some street lights are not burning in Lalbagh, Laydhill and Hathill areas of the city. Few youths scream under the influence of alcohol while driving their cars on weekends, party and throw the garbage on the road side and cause inconvenience to the residents of the nearby apartments and other local residents complained a caller.

The commissioner responded and said that problem will be considered seriously and action will be taken under the Karnataka police act.

Another caller complained of street vendors selling their goods on the footpath were causing problem to pedestrians near Pandeshwar Viyarthi Bhavan and the commissioner responded that action will be taken.

A caller complained of the malfunctioning or missing reflectors and indicator lights of heavy vehicle and the danger they posed to vehicle following such vehicles. The commissioner asked the president of the Bus Owners’ association and the RTO also to look into the matter.
