Pre-Monsoon Rains: Lightening Kills 3 in Karnataka

Dharwad: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightening resulted in the death of three people and six sheep in the state on Thursday.

Neminatha Balesha Alasandi (23) was killed while Praveena Thuppada (23) suffered injuries after they were struck by the thunderstorm when working on a farm at Yadavada village, Dharwad.

Prakasha C Karadigudda (32) and Bhirappa B Arashinagodi (17) were also killed while they had taken their sheep for grazing at Obalapura village in Belagavi.

Balehonnur in Chikmagalur and Hassan recorded a maximum of 4 cm rainfall in the last 24 hours while Kalburgi recorded the highest temperature at 40.6 degree Celsius.

Pre-monsoon showers are expected to continue on Friday too, sources in the Indian Meteorological Department said.
