Property card issuance to be streamlined within a month: DC

Mangaluru: There has been a huge rush at the Urban Property Ownership Records office here, after the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Sasikanth Senthil made it mandatory for property owners within the city corporation limits to have property cards for all transactions with affect from February 1st.

Due to the increased pressure, the district administration has been finding it hard to deal with doubts and confusions regarding certain properties and provide immediate solutions to them. The officials are unsure on how to handle the problems encountered by them and certain technical reasons prevent the immediate sorting out of the issue.

Taking note of the confusion over registration of property cards and distribution, the DC Senthil has assured that within a month’s period, all the problems will be addressed.

The current move of mandatory property card by the district administration will reveal the encroachment of government property by certain land mafia, and the administration is aware that these vested interests are undertaking behind-the-scene exercises against making property cards mandatory. The administration’s move also affects the middle men as, the property cards will provide conclusive records about ownership and hence they too are fighting against it.

Till now, 752 property cards have been issued out of the 1,000 applications received by the office.
