Protestors start indefinite stir demanding closure of Surathkal toll gate

Surathkal: The Anti-Tollgate Action Committee organised indefinite round the clock dharna demanding the closure of the Suratkal toll gate by this month end, started on Monday October 22nd. The protestors have also demanded ban on traffic on old Kulur Bridge until the new bridge construction is completed.
Despite the MP’s assurance at the NHAI meet that the contract which ends on October 30 will not be renewed, the contract renewal process of Suratkal toll gate has commenced, said the protestors. They have blamed the MP for this.
Action Committee Convenor Muneer Katipalla, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Corporators Dayanand Shetty, Dayanand Shetty, Revathi Putran, Purushottam Chitrapur, former mayor Hilda Alva, Jokatte GP Chief Precilla Monteiro and others are participating in the stir.
