Puttur-based IT firm to cut salary of employees who fail to vote

Puttur: Employees of an IT firm based in Puttur have been warned of a pay cut if they fail to exercise their vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
The firm, The Web People has declared a holiday on April 18 and 22 so that its employees – some 25 in number can visit their hometowns to cast votes. The firm has in a circular informed its employees that if they fail to vote their one month’s salary will be cut.
Firms CEO Aditya while speaking to DH said that in the absence of compelling laws, a much lower voter turnout is being witnessed in our society.
The employees’ fingers will be examined for voter ink to verify if they have voted, he said.
