Mangaluru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Rahul Gandhi released the Congress party manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections at TMA Pai Convention Centre here today.
The manifesto has been drafted by a 15 member committee after working for over four months and collecting opinions from various experts, MLAs and ministers.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul said, “I am extremely happy to be here and release the manifesto for the party and for Karnataka. The manifesto has been developed for the betterment of the people of Karnataka. The manifesto comprises of needs by the people of this state. Unlike the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baath, the manifesto contains the Mann Ki Baath of the people of Karnataka,”
The PM had made promises to deposit money in bank accounts but not a single rupee has been deposited. PM Modi guaranteed corruption free country, but several scams have come to light. The farmers have not received much help from his government.
Veerappa Moily has made a visit to every block in the district to enquire on people and know their needs. BJP manifesto will rather contain ideologies of the RSS. I am not here to tell what the people of Karnataka want I am here to listen to them.
Addressing the gathering, Dr M Veerappa Moily said that it was a historic moment as the Congress was releasing its manifesto at the hands of Rahul Gandhi in Mangaluru for the first time ever. “It took six months to prepare the manifesto,” he said, expressing confidence in Congress’ victory.
Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by CM Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dr Parameshwara, minister D K Shivakumar, Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Congress in-charge K C Venugopal, P C Vishnunath, Janardhan Poojary and other party leaders.
The first copy of the manifesto was handed over to party veteran, Janardhan Poojary.
“It’s our promise to the people of this state to keep our promise like we did in the past five years. We fulfilled 95 percent of the promises, and the reason is that we believe in the philosophy of Karnataka, of Basavana who said ‘nudidante nade’. We stood up to the idealologies of Basavanna,” he added.
