Raid at temple for conducting marriage without permission

Mangaluru: Acting on specific information,district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation officials conducted a raid Shree Mangaladevi Temple premises on Sunday June 20 for allegedly conducting four marriage ceremonies without permission.

As per the lockdown guidelines, wedding ceremonies are not permitted to be held in public places like temples and halls while limited number of guests are allowed in case of weddings conducted at residence.

On Sunday, a local resident alerted officials that wedding was taking place at the temple and several cars were parked outside the temple. Following this, officials raided the premises.

A case will be registered against the violators under Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act 2020.
