Srirangapatna: Water flow in the Kaveri river has risen considerably due to the incessant rains that are lashing the district, sparking fears of flooding.
The water level at the KRS reservoir has reached the danger level. The gates have been opened and the water is being let out of the reservoir.
The bathing ghat near Nichimbha temple has been completely flooded and the area has been barricaded to prohibit entry to devotees.
With the rains showing no signs of subsiding, the Kaveri river has reached closer to the danger mark with the low-lying areas inundated. Farmers in the district are worried that the water may flood into the farms and destroy crops if the rains don’t subside.
