Ramanagara: BJP president of Ramnagar district on Saturday refuted reports of him tendering resignation from his post after Chandrashekar, BJP’s candidate for bypolls backed out from contesting at the end moment.
Reports that a displeased Rudresh was likely to announce his resignation at a press conference tomorrow were doing the rounds since Saturday morning. It was said that Rudresh, who himself was aspiring a BJP ticket to contest the Ramanagara Assembly bypoll, was upset over the BJP leaders handling of the situation and hence the decision to quit.
Clearing the air on the so-called rumours, Rudresh said that he was unhappy over the last minute U-turn by their chosen candidate but had not considered stepping down from his post so far. With regards to Chandrashekar’s move to rejoin the Congress, he said that he would hold discussions with other party leaders and a report would be submitted to the party leadership.
For the uninitiated L Chandrasekhar had joined the BJP just recently after quitting the Congress party. He, however, left the BJP red-faced by withdrawing from the contest at the last moment and rejoining the Congress, a move allegedly influenced by Congress DK Shivakumar.
