‘Ready to run private buses as per government standards’

Udupi: The Coastal Bus Owner’s association is ready to run the buses in the Udupi district and waiting for permission from District commissioner (DC).

Canara Combined Transport Association and some other bus owners have few requests to DC to operate in the district.

Nearly 80 buses coming under the Coastal bus association are prepared to run the buses as per the guidelines set by the government.

They had requested District officials and RTO officials on May 3 for the permission to operate and are awaiting approval.

If the buses start operating in the district, many workers like drivers, bus conductors, cleaners, mechanics will get employment.

Speaking with this regard, President of Coastal Bus Owners Association Raghavendra Bhat said that it is the duty of the bus owners to provide services to the public as per regulations set by DC.

Meanwhile, Udupi DC, G Jagadish said that many private bus operators have sent demands to operate in the Udupi district. As per request from Coastal bus owners’ association, the matter will be discussed with the RTO officials and a decision will be taken at the earliest.
