Bengaluru: Police have arrested former BBMP corporator Rekha Kadiresh’s sister Mala and her son Arul, the alleged kingpins in her murder.
Police are also continuing their search for the mastermind of the case, ‘Captain’ alias Senthil.
The role of Mala and her son Arul in hiring Peter and his associates for the murder was proven with sufficient evidence.
Rekha Kadiresh was selected to contest the upcoming BBMP election on a BJP ticket. While, Rekha’s sister, Mala or her daughter Kasturi or Arul’s wife Purnima were also preparing to contest the election from the BSP in the same ward.
Mala feared that day by day Rekha’s popularity was growing in the ward as Rekha had done a lot of social work during the lockdown.
Determined to clear any hindrance for her family’s political future, Mala, along with her son Arul, conspired for Rekha’s murder three months ago.
Mala used to run an illegal liquor making unit 25 years ago and had also ventured into illegal marijuana distribution.
She had contacted many of her old criminal acolytes and tried to hire them to murder Rekha but all of them refused. Mala learnt from them that until Peter is with Rekha nothing can happen to her.
Meanwhile, Peter’s wife had a falling out with Rekha on some personal issues. Rekha began to keep Peter away from her daily affairs and even stopped a garbage contract to be given to him.
This had enraged Peter and Mala reportedly used his rage against Rekha to murder her.
