Rly police seize Rs 1.4 cr unaccounted money

Mangaluru: Acting on reliable information, Kasargod railway police arrested two persons after they were found in possession of Rs 1.4 crore unaccounted money.

The arrested Ankush (38) and Shankar (29), residents of Maharashtra had boarded the Mangala Express to Ernakulam from Mumbai.

The Kumble railway police had alerted their counterparts at Kasargod regarding a suspiciousbag with the accused. Upon checking it was found to contain Rs 1.4 crore in denominations of Rs 2,000 notes and Rs 500 notes.

The duo reportedly confessed to transporting the amount to Ernakulam for a commission of Rs 50,000 during the questioning.

The police have informed the Enforcement Directorate officials on the seizure of currency and investigation is in progress.
