Robbery plot foiled: Police nab 11 conspirators

Mangaluru: The 11 persons were arrested by a police team led by Mangaluru rural police inspector Sidda Gowda Bajantri and anti-rowdy squad for conspiring to rob a jewellery owner near Mangalore Hills road in Pachanady.
The arrested accused are identified as Sheikh Mohemmed Ansar (34), Rameez (21), Mohammed Tauseef alias Tachu (24), Mohammed Tauseef (25), Ubedulla (25), Mohammed Ali (25), Ahmed Kabir (30), Asgar Ali (27), Sabith (19), Mohammed Sabad (22) and Amir Ali (19). The accused are facing several cases of murder, murder attempt, robbery and POCSO in Karnataka and Kerala.
The police have also seized a Maruti 800 car, Maruti Ritz, iron rods and weapons, fake number plates and R 16,050 in cash. The total worth of the seized items is Rs 3,66,050.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that they had conspired to loot cash and gold belonging to one Santhosh, owner of a jewellery shop in Rathabeedi. Four other accused in this case are on the run.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of city police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Hanumantharaya, DCP Uma Prashanth, ACP K Rama Rao and staff.
