Rs 159 crore for sea erosion problem at Ullal: UTK

Mangaluru: In order to contain the sea erosion problem, permission has been given for the creation of a retaining wall along the coast t from Subhas Nagar to Talapady in Ullal at the cost of R 159 crore, infored district in-charge minister U T Khader at a press conference here.

The detailed Project Report (DPR) for the creation of a retaining wall from Subhas Nagar Kaiko to Khileriya Nagar at the cost of Rs 21.09 crore has been created and the tenders for the work will be called from the next month, he informed.

Permission has also be given for the creation of a permanent retaining wall from Someshwara to Talapdy at the cost of Rs 134 crore. If both of the retaining walls are completed then the sea erosion problem being faced in my constituency will be resolved, he explained. The works are been undertaken through loan from ADB, he informed.

After this project, a proposal will be sent to the government for the creation of retaining walls from Surathkal to other coastal areas in the state to solve the problem n sea erosion, he said.

Facilities for differentially abled increased to 5%

An order has been passed to increase the facilities for the differentially abled from the present 3% to 5%. Hence, grants and job reservation and other facilities for the differentially abled will see a rise, he said.

Creation of a new ring road

The state government has given permission for the creation of a new ring road on the outskirts of the city that will provide connection to NH 66 and NH 75. This project along NH 66 will connect Green View in Ucchila via Asaigoli- Arkane – Melkar – B C Road – Bantwal – Moddibidri – Mulki. This project is being done as per the request of the union government, he informed.

Meanwhile a four lane road will be created from Deralakatte hospital to Nitte Hospital which will later be extended to Kutthar and then to Thokkottu, he informed.

District level Pre-budget

In connection to the state budget and in regard to the demands of the district, all the MLA’s of the district and social service organization will hold a meeting and create a pre-budget which will be submitted to the chief minister. The meeting in this connection will be conducted soon, informed Khader.
