Mysuru: MLA Sa Ra Mahesh has accused Rohini Sindhuri, the former Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru district, of another corruption charge.

Mahesh has alleged that Sindhuri misused the Rs 8 crore SSC grants given to the Mysuru district.

Speaking at a news conference here, he said, “money was looted on the pretext of making plastic-free Mysuru. There was massive corruption in the purchase of cloth bags which was done without the permission of the municipal corporation.”

“A husband of a sub-divisional officer was the contractor in supplying these cloth bags and he received a lot of kickbacks,” Mahesh alleged.

“5 kilograms of the bags were billed at Rs 52. When we checked, we found out that the actual cost was Rs 13. 14,71,458 bags were purchased. The actual price should have been Rs 1,47,14,586 but Rs 7.65 crore was billed. More than six crore rupees was corruptly taken,” Mahesh further alleged.

“Karnataka’s tax money is being used to own property in Andhra. Did you go to the Chief Minister’s office to cover up this corruption?” Mahesh questioned Sindhuri.

He added that he will meet the chief minister and the chief secretary regarding the issue and warned that if Sinduri was not suspended and investigated, he would sit on a dharna.

“I had warned earlier warned not to appoint a dishonest officer. I also told them to force her to pay for the swimming pool, gym and other building renovations done by her at the official residence of the Deputy Commissioner,” Mahesh said.

“In such cases, politicians speak differently in public and if it is a woman officer then even more so. I have seen twelve years of her service and have made eight allegations against her based on the reports given to me by officials serving with her,” he said.
