Bengaluru: BJP worker Santhosh’s murder investigation has revealed that he was killed because he objected the accused, Wasim from smoking ganja in public.

According to the police, Ashok (27), an eye witness in the case, has mentioned this in his complaint to the J C Nagar police. Ashok, in the complaint, said Santhosh’s birthday was on January 30 and, the next day his (Santosh) sister had delivered a baby boy. He was very happy and hosted a party on January 31.

The complaint stated that Ashok along with Santhosh and two other friends were returning from a local bar and restaurant after the celebration at around 6 in the evening. They noticed Wasim and his friends smoking ganja in front of the bakery.  Santhosh had earlier complained to the police against Wasin for the same reason and Wasim carried the grudge against Santhosh.

On seeing Santhosh, Wasim picked a fight and Wasim’s associates Umar and Irfan attacked Santhosh’s friends. Ashok was trying to split them apart and at the same time Waseem pulled out a screw driver and stabbed Santhosh in his left thigh.

Santhosh was severely injured by the attack and was bleeding profusely. Wasim and his associates fled the spot immediately. Santhosh was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Mahaveer Jain Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The police clarified that Santhosh’s affiliation with the BJP or the fight over putting banners and flex hoardings in the area that was suspected to be the reason for the murder was no where mentioned in Ashok’s complaint.
