SBI launches floating ATM on houseboat at Dal Lake in Srinagar

New Delhi: State Bank of India, recently inaugurated an ATM on a houseboat at Srinagar’s Dal Lake, for the convenience of locals and tourists.
The floating ATM was inaugurated by SBI chairman Dinesh Khara on August 16. The bank, in a tweet, said that the ATM will be an added attraction to the “charm of Srinagar”.
“SBI opened an ATM on a Houseboat at #DalLake, Srinagar for the convenience of locals & tourists. It was inaugurated by the Chairman, SBI, on 16th August. The #FloatingATM in the popular Dal Lake fulfills a long-standing need & will be an added attraction to the charm of Srinagar,” reads the tweet.
The Dal Lake, which hosts floating vegetable market on shikaras, also houses a floating post office.
Notably, SBI had launched its first floating ATM in 2004 in Kerala on the Jhankar yacht owned by Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC).
