Kota (Raj): At least nine students sustained minor injuries after their speeding school bus overturned near Jhalawar overbridge in Baran city this morning, the police said. They were, however, discharged being provided first aid in a private hospital, they said.
Sub Inspector Bhanwar Singh of City Kotwali Police Station said the children aged between 10 to 13 years were students at a private school. He said the bus was speeding and it overturned near Jhalawar overbridge, about 8 km away from the school, at around 8 am.
A case of negligent driving was lodged against the driver who was detained and the bus impounded, the SI said. Meanwhile, a drive was started in Bundi this morning to check security measures in school buses. Bundi District Transport Officer (DTO) Dharmpal termed the drive as routine, saying the verification of vehicle papers and licenses was being carried out and action would be taken in case of violation of norms.
