Belthangady: In a controversial action certain to cause more trouble to the already beleaguered Islamist Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), its workers were reported to have shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans outside a vote counting centre here.
Hundreds of local political party workers had gathered outside the vote-counting centre shouting slogans of their parties as the gram panchayat election results of each ward was being declared.
Workers from both BJP and SDPI were shouting slogans approaching each other. Just then some from the SDPI camp shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad.’
After learning of the matter Circle Inspector Sandesh PG dispersed the workers from both the parties.
More police personnel have been called to the spot and gathering of party workers outside the vote counting centre has been stopped.
