Shiroor Math Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji no more

Udupi: Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji, head of Shiroor Math, passed away on Thursday early morning, July 19. He was 54. 

Swamiji was sick since the morning on Wednesday, July 18, and was admitted to KMC Hospital, Manipal. His condition was said to be critical later at night. 

Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji was born in 1964. He took Sanyasa in 1971.

The funeral will be held on July 19 at Shiroor Math. 

All schools and colleges associated with Sri Krishna Math have declared holiday for Thursday. Shops in Shiroor have been closed. 

All the Swamijis from Sri Krishna Matha are expected to attend the funeral.

According to most recent reports, gastrointestinal bleeding was the reason for death. A post-mortem will be conducted before the body is taken from hospital.
