Shivamogga: Lok Sabha member BY Raghavendra has said that the state-of-the-art airport at Sogane near here will be ready for air traffic in the next eight to ten months.
Raghavendra was speaking to reporters after reviewing the progress on the airport’s work along with local officials and elected representatives.
He added that 50 per cent of the work has already been completed and works on the terminal and lodging facilities will be started soon.
“Almost all problems that existed at the beginning of the airport works have been solved. Especially the problem of land,” he said.
“The airport will serve many commercial purposes, including the development of new industries and defence establishments. It will also make Shivamogga the hub of central Karnataka,” he added.
“The government has provided necessary grants for the completion of the proposed airport works within the stipulated time. Rs 22 crore would also be spent on the new power lines here,” Raghavendra said.
