Shivamogga: The situation turned tense as protesting Congress activists tried to gherao minister KS Eshwarappa at the BJP office here on Wednesday.

Congress workers demanded the resignation of the minister in the Santhosh suicide case and tried to mob the minister as he was exiting the building after attending the press conference. BJP workers objected to this and shouted slogans in Eshwarappa’s support. There was a verbal altercation between both groups.

Police had to intervene and detained the congress workers. The groups also quarreled with the police.

Tension prevailed as police were seen trying to calm the angry and emotionally charged BJP workers.
