Bengaluru: State Power Minister Sunil Kumar assured that the Single Phase Transformer system will be implemented as a pilot initiative for Irrigation Pump (IP) sets.

He informed about this, during the Question Hour session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday, September 15.

Answering the question of Congress legislator of Bailhongal Constituency, Koujalagi Mahantesh Shivanand, the minister said, “We will not cut the power connection IP sets of those who already have one. However, an action plan is in process for those who have not yet availed connection. I request the farmers not to panic as we have not received any requests of cutting the connections”.

“Phase-wise, we have begun supplying electricity to IP sets for seven hours in a stretch”, he added.

He assured that the power department will support the children of farmers who are pursuing their academics and see to it that there are no disruptions in the power supply to their homes.

Meanwhile, the minister also said that he would have a meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on giving permanent positions to 3854 rural field representatives of the electricity department.
