Smuggled gold worth Rs19L seized from passenger at MIA

‎Mangaluru:‎‎ Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport here on Wednesday thwarted another gold smuggling attempt.

A male passenger from Bhatkal was arrested for smuggling gold into the country. He had arrived from Dubai on a Spicejet flight SG60was arrested for smuggling gold into the country.  ‎

The 24-carat gold weighing 364.5 grams was seized from him and its market value was Rs 18,95,400, officials said.‎

‎Officials said the gold in paste form was packed in a paper and plastic packet which was concealed inside a stitched pocket of ladies’ undergarment and was carried in a carton box.
