South Western Railway Zone will commission 165 km Railway line soon

Hubballi: New railway line having 165 kilometer length which comes under South Western Railway zone will be commissioned during 2017-18. Also, the speed of doubling works of Hubballi-Chikkajajur and Hubballi-Hospet will be raised to complete the project as soon as possible, said South Western Railway Zonal Chief Manager AK Gupta speaking in a press conference here in the city on Wednesday.
Speaking on the union budget 2017-18, he said that the union government will sanction Rs 3174 crore for various development works of South Western Railway zone and the amount is 19.17% higher when compared to the last budget.
There are 350 unmanned level crossings are exist in three divisional broad gauge railway line of the zone and these level crossings will be made manned level crossings by 2020. Bengaluru Cantt, Yeshwanthpur railway stations will be upgraded. New facilities like lift, escalators, solar panels and others will be provided for selected railway stations of the zone, he said.
