Special Investigation Team to Investigate Gauri Lankesh Murder Case

Bengaluru: A special investigation team (SIT) will be formed under an inspector general of police to investigate the murder case of senior Kannada journalist, social activist Gauri Lankesh. Director general of police (DGP) has been assigned the task to form a SIT to crack the murder case immediately, said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah speaking after a meeting with senior police officers and state home minister in Vidhana Soudha here on Wednesday.
Speaking on a CBI probe into the case, chief minister said, the state government hasn’t any objection to handover the case to a central investigation team. However, as of now the government has trust in a SIT to be formed by DGP. No deadline has been fixed to the investigation to be completed by SIT instead the chief minister has asked the police to nab the culprits immediately.
