Bengaluru: A special NIA court rejected an application from the three accused in the 2016 Mysuru court blast case seeking leniency while awarding sentences to them.
The three accused Nainar Abbas Ali, M Samsun Karim Raja and Dawood Sulaiman are residents of Madurai, Tamil Nadu and were arrested for planting bombs in the toilet of Mysuru court on August 1, 2016.
Last year, the three filed the petition stating that they regret their actions and wanted to return to normal life and work for the country.
The NIA court judge Kasanappa Naik rejected the application stating that the court cannot permit any leniency as the offence is very serious involving planting bombs, the explosion of which injured many.
The trio had conducted the terrorist act to avenge the hanging of Yakub Memon and the publication of the cartoon by Charlie Hebdo in a Tamil newspaper.
