Chikkamagaluru: After the members of Child Welfare committee complained about the alleged gang rape on a minor girl from Sringeri, the police have so far filed 30 charge sheets in regard to the case.
The police have been successful in arresting the 42 accused.
For the unversed, the Child Welfare Committee members filed a case accusing several men of sexually molesting a minor girl. Following which the police started an investigation.
A woman who claimed to be the aunt of the minor has been identified as the top dog of the racket.
The case took a political angle after further investigations. However, the police went ahead with the probe and arrested 42 persons.
Under the special Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse Act, charge sheets have been filed against the 30 arrested.
Reports state that more charge sheets are likely to be filed soon. This case marks the only case in the district with such a huge number of charge sheets to be filed in one single day.

Also, a police sub-inspector was transferred for inefficiently handling the case. Not only that even a police circle inspector was suspended.
Currently, the investigation is headed by the assistant superintendent of police, Shruthi, who is camping in Sringeri.
