State govt sanctions Rs 961 cr to RTCs towards staff salaries

Bengaluru: The state government has come to the rescue of KSRTC as it is struggling to pay the salaries of its staff amid the coronavirus crisis.

Transport Minister Laxman Savadi said that the government has consented to release a sum of Rs 961 crore to the corporations -KSRTC, BMTC, NEKRTC, and NWKRTC – towards the payment of staff salaries.

A sum of Rs 426 crore has already been released for the payment of June and July salaries, he informed.

The sum so sanctioned will enable the corporations to meet salary commitments till month of September, he added.
