A former Gram Panchayat member of Markanje in Sullia Taluk allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a store run by him, police said.
The deceased is identified as K Bhojappa (48).
He was found hanging inside his shop located at Adthale here. The cause for the suicide is not known yet.
Bhojappa is survived by his wife and two children.
A case has been registered with Sullia police.
