Surathkal: Plans for new electric crematorium
Team Udayavani, Jul 17, 2020, 12:33 PM IST
Mangaluru: The district administration and the Mangaluru Smart City Limited is considering a proposal to build an electric crematorium at Surathkal.
City Mayor Divakar Pandeshwar had first proposed the construction of an electric crematorium as there is a lack of such a facility in Surathkal.
Officials from the district administration and Smart City project will decide on the proposal at their next meeting.
Another reason, that is being reported, for setting up of the new crematorium is that presently, COVID-19 dead are being cremated at Boloor and the new one could serve as an alternative.
