Bantwal: Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar on Monday informed that the government will arrange to distribute textbooks, uniforms, and bicycles to students on the day of school reopening in the next academic year.
Speaking during his visit to the renovated Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School at Daddalkad in Bantwal taluk Kumar said that students had to face hardships owing to the delay in supply of textbooks. In order to address this issue, the government has initiated a process to ensure that textbooks are distributed when school reopens, he said.
Appreciating the increased student strength at the school from a meager 30 four years ago to over 640 at present, Kumar said that the school should serve as a model for other government schools in the State.
“The government will sanction a high school unit for the higher primary school at Daddalkad in the next academic year. It will also ensure that it runs smoothly,” he assured.
Earlier in the day, he distributed free bicycles to students and interacted with them in their classrooms.
Bantwal MLA U. Rajesh Naik and others were present.
