Bengaluru: BJP national general secretary C T Ravi is in the news yet again for the wrong reasons, this time for attacking Mahatma Gandhi. Ravi claimed that the belief that Gandhi led freedom struggle brought us independence is only partially true.
He was speaking at a book release event held at Taj Hotel. The book was on ‘Veer Savarkar’ authored by Vikram Sampath.
Praising Veer Savarkar, C T Ravi said, ” Veer Savarkar is a role model for everyone. But our history has inflicted injustice on some people. During the freedom struggle, while many had the facilities to author their autobiographies, Savarkar was in jail deprived of basic needs. He was the first to think of Hindutva but it had created controversy back then. But now people are accepting it. Books and articles regarding his bravery are being released now. Also, the belief that Gandhiji’s non-violence brought us freedom is only partially true.”
“After the independence, Ambedkar too did not get justice. We will be able to understand Savarkar’s importance once we get an answer to why India was divided after independence, ” he added.
